Bored but Inspired

listening to
Oblivion - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Sometimes you just have off days. Days that no matter what you do right you still feel a little off balance. Work is steady and at the same time I'm bored. This soundtrack by M83 adds just the right amount of drama and intenseness that my day is lacking. It really is quite beautiful. Below are some inspiring images.

Crave You

I recently played around with dying my hair. I wanted a very subtle change and I love what I accomplished. I used a Red Manic Panic dye from Urban Outfitters and only dyed the lower portion of my hair. I wanted to simulate an ombre kind of fade, but from my natural color to red.

I referenced several tutorials on you tube before deciding to do it myself.  The videos I watched were actually how to do just a typical ombre, but I really watched them to see how they managed to actually get it to fade and not look so blunt of a change. I didn't use any bleach and I won't say that I and vegan, but the hair dye I used was not tested on animals and it was vegan, so that was kind of nice to know I was putting natural ingredients in my hair. Below are the three videos that helped me the most.

Monday

I thought it seemed fitting to write about how I've been re-vamping my wardrobe, since I've had a lack of posts lately. I've also re-vamped the blog layout and design a bit. I will admit it's hard to stick with one design, but I think this is something I can keep up considering its right along lines with the feel of and color scheme I'm going with for my new wardrobe.

Some things I've been looking for while out shopping and adding to my mountain of wish-lists from my favorite online stores have been funky duo metal jewelry, gold & silver. Also I've been looking for some slouchy sweaters, dresses and blouses that expose the back, and metallic accessories, like maybe a shiny gold or silver scarf.

I've kept my eyes our for a pair of black ankle boot/heels, and I've come across the ones shown below. I absolutely love them and have been wearing them a lot lately. It's been taking some getting used to, but I'm getting better at walking in them. Nothing screams feminine power like some bad ass heels.

Wednesday

WEDNESDAYS SHMENSDAYS

Just another Wednesday, that day that makes you feel stuck in the middle of the week, that has you wondering what will I be doing this weekend, where will I go, who will I see? I'm looking forward to the weekend to come. Going on a camping trip to Turner Falls with Michael and his family where I will take lots of photos, share stories and go hiking and maybe swimming! I wish we could bring Murray but, no can do. As for this Wednesday I plan on working on my Halloween Costumes, and doing some Netflix Surfing. Meanwhile here are some glimpses of my outfit today, how I love pleated skirts with boots!

Sunday

SUNDAY FUNDAY

It's the day after a long night of much needed rain, a day filled with looking through magazines, listening to Frank Sinatra, and hanging out with our new puppy, Murray! The descending triangle necklace I'm wearing today inspired me to take my outfit photos infront of one of my favorite and fairly recent paintings. Loving the humidity today, I always have good hair days on slightly humid days. I need to move somewhere where it rains more often. Back to my long day of lounging on the couch flipping through dwell, COLOR made easy, and Cosmopolitan.

Thursday

IS IT GOING TO RAIN

Its my favorite type of weather outside, a slightly windy, partly cloudy, and still warm out side.....about to storm kind of weather. It will probably start after I get off work and it's been a long day at work so far, so I'm taking a break away from all of crazy logo requests that have been sent my way and going for a walk. I went for a walk around the building taking photos here and there, it's nice to get away from the computer screen.

MAGIC CARPET

Whoever sitteth on this carpet and willeth in thought to be taken up and set down upon other site will, in the twinkling of an eye, be borne thither, be that place nearhand or distant many a day's journey and difficult to reach.

Burton, Richard The Thousand Nights and a Night" Vol. 13, 1885

I saw the above video a few weeks ago, before I started up this blog, and thought it would be a beautiful vision to share. I've been shopping around online for my own magic carpet or rather a really cool carpet for the office or the dinning room. Come to find out...there are so many beautiful magic carpets out there. The Peacock Shag is by far my favorite, whats yours?

Sunday

AFTERNOON ESCAPADES

Started off my day with some adventuring at the amazing Montgomery Antique Mall with Michael. We're looking for a bar cart for the living room and we stumbled across this awesome booth with lots of mahogany furniture, owl bookends and this monocle wearing general dog statue. I just had to snap a photo of this guy, he's great inspiration for a painting I'm wanting to get started on.

Later, I ventured on my own to House of Wynn, two buildings full of European antique furniture, jewelry, teas, coffee, dishes, table linens and art deco items. I had never been there before but have passed by it several times while out on errands. The owner of the shop was very kind to walk me over to the second building which was locked and let me peek around at her book collection. Some things I found by the end of the afternoon on my Escapades:  The Painted Lady by Ursula Bloom, a Marble Verde Green Italian Leather Trim Journal, and a Tibetan Silver Bracelet. The rest of my day was spent goofing around in my backyard and later venturing out to gallery night.
